Using 乱 as an Adverb: "Randomly / Disorderly"
As an adverb, 乱 describes an action done in a disorderly, careless, or arbitrary way — often with a negative sense.
Unlike its adjective use, adverbial 乱 typically appears before a verb to modify how the action is performed.
Structure
Subj. + 乱 + Verb (+ Object)
Use 乱 to indicate the action is done randomly, carelessly, or without proper order.
Examples
- 你别乱说话，老师会生气的。Nǐ bié luàn shuō huà, lǎo shī huì shēng qì de.Don't speak carelessly, the teacher will get angry.
- 他把书乱放在桌子上。Tā bǎ shū luàn fàng zài zhuō zi shàng.He tossed the books randomly on the table.
- 孩子们在公园里乱跑。Hái zi men zài gōng yuán lǐ luàn pǎo.The children were running around wildly in the park.
- 请不要乱动我的东西。Qǐng bú yào luàn dòng wǒ de dōng xī.Please don't touch my things without permission.
- 她心里很乱，做决定的时候总是乱想。Tā xīn lǐ hěn luàn, zuò jué dìng de shí hou zǒng shì luàn xiǎng.Her mind is very confused, and she always overthinks things when making decisions.
