Saying "of course" with 当然

当然 is an adverb used to indicate something is obvious, natural, or goes without saying, often in response to a question or to strongly agree.

It can be used in statements as well, expressing that something is certainly or naturally the case.

Structure

当然 + Verb / Statement

Used to confirm or strongly affirm something.

当然，(…) + (Sentence)

At the start of a sentence, emphasizing that the following is obvious or expected.

当然，我会帮你。
Dāng rán, wǒ huì bāng nǐ.
Of course, I'll help you.
这个问题当然很重要。
Zhè ge wèn tí dāng rán hěn zhòng yào.
This question is certainly very important.
当然不是这样。
Dāng rán bú shì zhè yàng.
Of course it's not like this.
