Expressing "every" with question words

To express “every” or “any,” place a question word (such as 谁, 什么, or 哪儿) before 都, followed by a verb or adjective. Note that negation with 不 comes after 都, not before the question word.

Structure

Question Word + 都 + Predicate

Examples

  • 喜欢美食。
    Shéi dōu xǐhuan měishí.
    Everyone likes delicious food.
  • 可以进。
    Shéi dōu kěyǐ jìn.
    Everyone can come in.
  • 不相信他说的话。
    Shéi dōu bù xiāngxìn tā shuō de huà.
    No one believes what he said.
