Expressing 'always previously' with 向来

向来 expresses that a state, habit, or characteristic has been consistently true from the past up to now. It is often followed by 都 for emphasis, and 一向 can be used with the same meaning and structure.

Structure

Subject + 向来 (+ 都) + Verb / Verb Phrase

Examples

  • 他向来很准时。
    Tā xiànglái hěn zhǔnshí.
