Expressing 'a little too' with 有点

Use 有点 (or 有一点) before an adjective to indicate that something is 'a little too' or 'a bit too' that quality. The 一 is often dropped in spoken Chinese, and the northern variant adds 儿 (有点儿). Be careful not to confuse this adverb 有点 with the quantity expression 一点, which goes after verbs.

Structure

Subj. + 有一点(儿) + Adj.
一 is often dropped (有点), and 儿 is optional in northern dialects.

    Today, the teacher felt a little unwell, so she didn't come to class.
