Comparing specifically with 像
Use 像…一样 to make 'as... as' or 'like' comparisons, placing the two things you’re comparing around 像 and 一样. Omitting 一样 turns the comparison into a simple statement of resemblance without comparing degree.
Structure
Noun 1 + 像 + Noun 2 + 一样 + Adj. / Verb
一样 is required for degree comparison; omitting it changes the meaning to simple resemblance.
Examples
- 她有时候像小孩一样天真。Tā yǒushíhou xiàng xiǎohái yīyàng tiānzhēn.She's as naive as a little kid sometimes.
- 这个老外的汉语像中国人一样地道。Zhège lǎowài de Hànyǔ xiàng Zhōngguó rén yīyàng dìdao.This foreigner can speak Chinese as fluently as native speakers do.
- 他很生气，像疯子一样大叫起来。Tā hěn shēngqì, xiàng fēngzi yīyàng dà jiào qǐlái.He was very angry and started to scream like a lunatic.
- 你怎么像我妈一样啰嗦！Nǐ zěnme xiàng wǒ mā yīyàng luōsuo!Why do you sound as nagging as my mom!
- 我像你一样大的时候，还不知道手机是什么。Wǒ xiàng nǐ yīyàng dà de shíhou, hái bù zhīdào shǒujī shì shénme.When I was as old as you are, I didn't know what a cell phone was.
