魂 (hún) is the concept of the spiritual soul in Chinese thought, one of several souls in traditional belief (三魂七魄). It appears in compounds like 灵魂 (soul) and set phrases such as 魂不守舍 (to be absent-minded, lit. soul not guarding the body) to describe emotional or mental states.
