Definition
香料 (xiāng liào) is a broad term for aromatic substances used either as cooking spices (like 调料/作料) or as raw materials for perfume (like 香水). Unlike 调料/作料, which are strictly for food, 香料 also covers fragrance ingredients for cosmetics and incense. 芬芳 is an adjective/noun for a pleasant smell, not a substance.
