馏 (liú) is a bound form (b.f.) meaning 'to distill' — it almost always appears as part of the two-syllable word 蒸馏 (zhēngliú, 'distillation'). You won't use 馏 alone in modern Chinese; it's a bound morpheme that needs another character to form a complete word. The most common compound is 蒸馏水 (distilled water).
