Definition
零星 (líng xīng) describes things that are scattered, sporadic, or fragmentary — isolated occurrences or small amounts. It differs from 分散 (fēn sàn), which focuses on things being spread out or dispersed in space, and from 零碎 (líng suì), which emphasizes small, broken pieces or odds and ends. 零星 is often used for fragmentary impressions, sporadic income, or scattered snowflakes.
