Definition
雕花 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to carve decorative patterns' on wood, furniture, or other surfaces. The two characters 雕 (carve) and 花 (pattern) can split: a measure word or other element goes between them, e.g. 雕了一朵花 (carved a flower pattern). You can also insert 得/不 for potential complements, like 雕得好 (able to carve well). The object of the carving (the thing carved on) is usually placed before or after the whole verb, not between, e.g. 在衣柜上雕花 (carve patterns on a wardrobe).
