Definition
雏儿 literally means 'chick' (雏 = young bird, 儿 = diminutive suffix). The primary modern meaning is a young inexperienced person, a rookie or greenhorn, often used playfully or with affection. However, it also has a very different, negative sense referring to a very young prostitute, which is a sensitive term and should be used with caution. A third, less common sense simply means 'young girl'.
