闺 is a bound morpheme (cannot stand alone) that appears in compounds related to women's private quarters or close female relationships. In traditional Chinese culture, 闺 referred to the inner chambers of a home reserved for women. Today you'll see it most often in 闺女 (daughter), 闺密 (close female friend), and 闺房 (boudoir).
