Definition
闷热 (mēn rè) describes weather that is both hot and stuffy/humid — the uncomfortable combination of high temperature and poor air circulation. It differs from 炎热 (yán rè), which means 'scorching hot' without necessarily being stuffy, and from 闷 (mèn) or 沉闷 (chén mèn), which can mean 'stuffy/oppressive' but may also refer to mood or lack of heat.
