问诊 is a medical term combining 问 ('to ask') and 诊 ('to examine/diagnose'). It refers to the clinical process of taking a patient's history through questioning — the doctor asks about symptoms, onset, duration, and medical history. This is one of the four traditional diagnostic methods (望闻问切) in Chinese medicine, but in modern usage it simply means 'to take a history' or 'to interview a patient for diagnosis'.
