Definition
镇定 (zhèn dìng) means 'calm and composed', especially when facing danger or pressure — it emphasizes keeping one's cool in a crisis. It is very close to 镇静 (zhèn jìng), but 镇定 leans slightly more toward outward steadiness in action, while 镇静 focuses on inner emotional calm. Unlike 冷静 (lěng jìng 'cool-headed'), 镇定 does not describe a quiet place or temperature.
