Definition
金丝 literally 'gold thread', but the word is broader than its parts: it can refer to fine gold or golden-colored thread or wire (used in embroidery or crafts), and in literary or poetic contexts it also describes golden or blonde hair (similar to 'golden locks' in English). You won't normally use it for 'golden hair' in everyday conversation — the more common term is 金发 (jīnfà).
