Definition
重叠 (chóng dié) means 'to overlap, superimpose', and in linguistics it also refers to verb reduplication (e.g., 看看). It contrasts with 重复 (chóng fù 'to repeat'), which is about doing something again, and with 叠 (dié 'to fold, stack'), which is a deliberate act of placing one item on top of another.
