醒 (xǐng) is the everyday verb for waking up from sleep or sobering up after drinking. Unlike 苏醒 (sūxǐng), which is more formal and used for regaining consciousness after fainting or for nature reviving, 醒 covers ordinary daily transitions like waking up or coming to your senses.
