Definition
醍醐灌顶 is a literary Chengyu (four-character idiom) originating from Buddhist texts, where 醍醐 (the finest cream) is poured over the head (顶) to symbolize transmitting wisdom. You use it to describe a sudden, profound enlightenment — as if someone's words or insight instantly cleared your confusion and made everything click. It often appears in the pattern '如醍醐灌顶' or '让人醍醐灌顶'.
