Definition
遗留 (yí liú) means 'to leave behind' and is used for abstract things like problems, heritage, or traces that remain from the past. It is more formal than the everyday verb 留下 (liú xià), which can also be used for concrete objects. Unlike 流传 (liú chuán, 'to spread/circulate'), 遗留 focuses on what is left behind, not on transmission.
