通道 is a general noun for a physical passage (a corridor, tunnel, or thoroughfare) or a figurative channel (e.g., a communication or network channel). It differs from 过道 (guòdào), which is specifically an indoor aisle or hallway inside a building; and from 频道 (píndào), which refers only to TV/radio broadcast frequencies.
