迟缓 (chí huǎn) means 'slow, sluggish' and is used for movement, growth, or recovery, often with a negative nuance of being too slow. It is more formal than the everyday word 慢 (màn), and unlike 迟钝 (chí dùn) which describes mental slowness, 迟缓 focuses on physical or process slowness.
