Definition
近视 has two main uses: literally, it describes the medical condition of being nearsighted (unable to see distant objects clearly); figuratively, it describes a person or decision that lacks foresight — 'shortsighted' in the metaphorical sense. As an adjective, it can modify both eyesight and behavior or thinking.
