过后 (guò hòu) — afterwards, later (after an event or action)

Definition

过后 (guò hòu) attaches directly to a noun or event to mean 'after that event', e.g., 考试过后 (after the exam). Unlike 以后 (yǐhòu) or 之后 (zhīhòu), it cannot stand alone to mean 'later' — it always follows the event it modifies. It is less formal than 此后 (cǐhòu) and does not carry the 'in hindsight' sense of 事后 (shìhòu).
