轰隆 is an onomatopoeia for a loud, low, rumbling sound — like thunder rolling, an explosion, or heavy machinery. It's often used with 一声 (a sound of) or repeated as 轰隆轰隆 for continuous rumbling. You can use it as an independent exclamation or as a modifier before 的.
