Definition
软弱 (ruǎn ruò) describes a person or argument as weak in character, will, or physical condition — it carries a negative judgment of lacking strength or resolve. Compared to 弱 (ruò), which is neutral and can mean simply 'not strong' physically or in ability, 软弱 emphasizes a personal weakness or timidity, especially in character. It is distinct from 微弱 (wēi ruò), which is used for faint sounds, light, or signals, not people's character.
