Definition
软实力 (ruǎn shílì) is a fixed term from international relations meaning 'soft power' — influence through culture, values, and diplomacy rather than force. It contrasts with 实力 (shílì), which is the general word for 'actual strength or capability' (military, economic, or personal). 软实力 always refers specifically to non-coercive influence.
