Definition
转让 (zhuǎn ràng) means to formally transfer ownership or rights of something (e.g., a company, property, patent) from one party to another — a permanent change in legal title. It is more specific than 转交 (zhuǎn jiāo 'pass on/forward'), which is about physically handing something over, and closer to 移交 (yí jiāo 'hand over'), though 移交 often refers to transferring responsibilities or documents in a formal process, not necessarily ownership.
