Definition
转弯 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to turn a corner' or 'to make a turn'. The verb 转 and the object 弯 can split when you add aspect markers (了, 过), measure words (一个), or time expressions (三次). For example: 转了一个弯 ('made a turn'). The object 弯 can also be modified: 转个大弯 ('make a big turn'). It's used literally for roads and paths, and metaphorically for changing one's opinion or approach.
