Definition
蹬 (dēng) often implies a forceful step or press, like on a bicycle pedal or a stamp, stronger than 踩 (general stepping) and less literary than 踏. For shoes, it means slipping them on quickly, distinct from the general 穿. As slang for 'to dump' a partner, it's used but less common than 甩.
