Definition
踱 means to pace or stroll with a slow, measured, often deliberate or unhurried step — think of someone walking back and forth while thinking, or taking a leisurely walk. It's more literary and vivid than 走 or 散步, and often appears in the reduplicated form 踱来踱去 ('pace back and forth'). You'll encounter it in narrative writing, not casual conversation.
