Definition
踏破 literally means "to tread on and break". It is used in both concrete contexts (stepping so hard something breaks) and figurative contexts (traveling far and wide, as in the idiom 踏破铁鞋无觅处 — 'to wear out iron shoes searching'). It is an advanced, literary verb.
