Definition
跳 (tiào) is the everyday, general verb for 'to jump' — used for people, animals, and objects. 跳跃 (tiào yuè) is a more formal, literary synonym meaning 'to leap, to bound'; 蹦 (bèng) is more colloquial and often suggests a small, bouncy hop. 跳 also means 'to beat' for the heart or pulse, which is not shared by 跳跃 or 蹦.
