Definition
跳级 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to skip a grade' in school or 'to skip a level' in a game or career. When you add a number or a measure word, the verb 跳 and the object 级 split apart — for example, 跳了一级 ('skipped one grade') or 跳过两次级 ('skipped grades twice'). You can also negate it with 没跳过级 ('haven't skipped a grade').
