Definition

跑道 (pǎo dào) refers to a physical track for running (athletics) or a runway for aircraft takeoff/landing. It differs from 轨道 (guǐ dào), which is a rail track for trains/subways or an orbit in space; and from 田径 (tián jìng), which is the sport 'track and field', not the surface itself.
