Definition
跌伤 is a resultative verb compound (动结式): 跌 means 'to fall' and 伤 means 'to get hurt'. It describes injury sustained from a fall. Unlike plain 'fall down', 跌伤 emphasizes the resulting harm, and it can take an object specifying the injured body part (e.g. 跌伤了腿 'fell and hurt one's leg'). You can insert 了 between the two syllables to mark completion (跌伤了).
