Definition
越发 (yuèfā) is a formal adverb meaning 'increasingly, more and more', used in written Chinese to describe a gradual change or intensification over time. It is more literary than 更 (gèng) or 更加 (gèngjiā), and similar to 日益 (rìyì) but without the strict 'day by day' sense. In the pattern 越…越…, it can also mean 'the more...the more...'.
