Definition
超重 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to exceed a weight limit' or 'to be overweight.' The verb 超 (exceed) and the object 重 (weight) can be separated by quantities or measure words, e.g., 超了三公斤 ('exceeded by three kilograms'). It's used most often for luggage at airports (行李超重) and for vehicles or loads that exceed legal weight limits (卡车超重). It can also describe someone gaining too much weight in a health context.
