Definition
赶车 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning either 'to drive a cart' (older sense) or 'to rush to catch a bus/train' (modern, more common sense). The verb 赶 and the object 车 can split when you insert a time expression, measure word, or aspect marker between them — for example, 赶了三次车 ('caught the bus three times'). In modern Chinese, the 'rush to catch' sense is far more frequent than the literal cart-driving sense.
