Definition
赡养费 refers to financial support paid for the care of elderly parents or in-laws. In modern Chinese it is almost exclusively used for parental support, not for spousal alimony. The dictionary gloss includes 'alimony', but that sense is rare and better translated as 扶养费 (fúyǎng fèi) or 生活费 (shēnghuó fèi). Be careful not to confuse the two.
