Definition
赎 (shú) means to redeem a pawned item or ransom a person, typically by paying money. Unlike 挽回 (wǎn huí), which is used for abstract things like a situation or reputation, 赎 is concrete and involves a financial transaction. It can also be used metaphorically (e.g., 赎罪 'atone for sins').
