Definition
资产阶级 is a political and economic term referring to the social class that owns the means of production — the bourgeoisie or capitalist class. Borrowed from Japanese translations of European Marxist theory, it carries strong ideological weight in Chinese political discourse, where it is often contrasted with 无产阶级 (the proletariat). In modern usage, it can refer to the propertied class in any capitalist society.
