Definition
费力 (fèi lì) means 'to expend effort' and emphasizes that a task is strenuous or difficult, often implying 'it takes a lot of work'. It is similar to 费劲 (fèi jìn) but 费力 is more verb-like and can be used as a verb-object compound (费了力). Unlike 尽力 (jìn lì, 'to do one's best'), 费力 focuses on the effort required by the task rather than the person's determination.
