Definition
贝勒 is a Qing dynasty Manchu noble title, borrowed from Manchu 'beile', ranking below a prince (亲王) but above other nobles. It appears frequently in historical dramas, novels, and texts about the Qing court. The characters also literally mean 'shell decorations on a horse's bridle', but that meaning is very rare in modern usage.
