Definition
豚 is a bound form (b.f.) meaning 'pig' or 'pig-like animal', but it is almost never used alone in modern Chinese. The standalone word for 'pig' is 猪 (zhū). You will encounter 豚 as a component in compound words such as 海豚 (dolphin, literally 'sea pig'), 河豚 (pufferfish, literally 'river pig'), and 豚鼠 (guinea pig).
