谨慎 (jǐn shèn) describes a cautious, prudent personality or approach—staying alert to avoid risks. It is more formal and enduring (a trait) than 小心 (xiǎo xīn), which is often used as an immediate warning or for everyday tasks. 慎重 (shèn zhòng) is even more formal and specifically implies careful deliberation before important decisions.
