Definition
谢绝 (xièjué) is a formal, polite way to refuse — used in writing or formal speech to decline offers, interviews, or gifts. It is more courteous and final than the general 拒绝 (jùjué), and more formal than 推辞 (tuīcí), which is also polite but often for invitations or appointments.
