谋生 (móu shēng) means 'to make a living' — it focuses on obtaining the necessities of life through work. Unlike 谋求 (to seek an abstract goal) or 谋取 (to strive for something, often with a connotation of gain), 谋生 is concrete and tied to livelihood. It is often used with 靠, as in 靠手艺谋生 (to live by one's craft).
