Definition
谋事 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to plan matters' or 'to look for a job'. It can be split to insert a measure word, object, or complement between 谋 and 事, e.g. 谋一件事 ('plan a matter') or 谋了个好差事 ('landed a good job'). The two main senses are: (1) making plans or arrangements, and (2) seeking employment or a position. In formal or literary contexts, it often appears in the idiom 谋事在人,成事在天 ('Man proposes, God disposes').
